Established in 2004 Music at the Brewhouse is an eclectic performing group drawn from classical, improvised, experimental, and electronic music traditions. The Brewhouse boasts six composers, four of the UK's most respected music animateurs and specialists in sound design and live electronics. The company pursues an eclectic and visionary policy for new music programming, collaborating with kindred spirits in theatre, dance, performance art and new media and in education.
First seen in Tramway with the acclaimed Life's Hard, a vivid dance cabaret inspired by tales of the hard men of Glasgow's underworld with Russian dance artists DOTheatre, and has received commissions for a series of new cross-art form works, including collaborations with film, circus theatre, dance and cabaret. Music at the Brewhouse has developed an original and exciting education portfolio, including the groundbreaking score Thrie Heids commissioned for an international music education conference in November 2006.
