Fatal Attraction
"Fatal Attraction has exceeded all our expectations... such an imaginitive and exciting work! The feedback has been tremendous, with everyone commenting on the warmth, organization and innovation on display"
Marcus Liddell OBE, Chief Executive, Young Scot
Scored for youth chorus, rock ensemble and a chorus of lap top computers, the Fatal Attraction suite received its world premiere to critical acclaim at an international Youth Conference in Edinburgh in 2003. Set to evocative texts by Scottish poet Dilys Rose, the project epitomises Stephen's ability to leapfrog from an education arena onto a highly challenging performance platform. Praised by the Scottish Arts Council for its innovation and imagination Fatal Attraction proved to be one of the most successful commissions of the year and was later invited to be showcased as part of the Kunst Nontaal Festival in Salzburg.
Musically the work sets out to explore the boundaries between acoustic performance and live electronics, and to provide opportunities for young adults with no music reading skills to perform alongside a large instrumental band and chorus.
